J.F. Burns (I) sells the concrete business to his son in 1946 who combines it with his own concrete, sand & gravel and excavating business.

1950's
Through a variety of companies, J.F. Burns (II) introduces one of the first central mix concrete plants to Alberta. Concrete delivery replaces jobsite mixing and portable crushing plants are purchased.

|
J.F. Burns (II) enters the asphalt paving business under the name Pioneer Paving and third generation James F. Burns (III) joins the business.
|

1960's
All companies are consolidated into BURNCO Industries Ltd to prepare for a single focus on growth and development. J.F. Burns (II) is President and J.F. Burns (III), Executive Vice-President. Pioneer Paving continues to operate separately.
