Our History

BURNCO's humble beginnings were established in 1912, before Alberta was a province in the Dominion of Canada. Our founder James Francis (Jim) Burns headed West to build a new life for his family. This young man's entrepreneurial spirit would establish a legacy of connection to community, the land, integrity, and stewardship for generations to come.
BURNCO believes that if you honor the land, it will honor you. Long before sustainability was on trend, BURNCO reclaimed sites throughout Alberta, creating parks, residential subdivisions, and recreational spaces for everyone to enjoy.
BURNCO is proud to be an integral part of the foundation that helped build Alberta, from the Calgary Tower to the Winter Olympics projects in Banff and Canmore, to shopping malls, homes, schools, roads, offices, bridges, medical facilities, and government buildings.
We look forward while we stand on the shoulders of those who came before us, envisioning a better future for everyone.
