There are several uses for adding fibre to concrete, from creating a longer lasting surface to replacing steel in some applications. Fibre in concrete is not a new idea, in fact horse hair was used in the concrete in constructing the Coliseum in Rome over 2000 years ago.
- Steel Fibre | There are several different ways to manufacture steel fibre, pulled wire, undulated and fibulated strands, etc, used to structurally reinforce concrete.
- Micro Synthetic Fibre | Sometimes called “Poly Fibre”, it is generally used to positively affect the paste layer of the concrete.
- Macro Synthetic Fibre | Sometimes called “Poly Fibre”, it is generally used to positively affect the body of the concrete, rather than the paste layer.
