This is a full-time position reporting to the Quality Assurance Supervisor within our Edmonton – Ready Mix Division.  Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • On site testing of concrete
  • Communicating with clients, third party testing companies, and operations personnel
  • Troubleshooting and making recommendations to maintain high quality ready mix product
  • Observation and documentation of placement, logistical, and curing conditions that will impact product performance

You are able to prioritize and work effectively in a multi-tasking environment.  You project a high degree of professionalism combined with a friendly and helpful manner when working with our internal team. Duties also include: answering and directing phone calls; daily billing for plants; daily timesheet entry; data entry into JD Edwards; admin support for management, maintenance, production and Health & Safety; and other office duties as required.

 

The ability to work independently and be self-motivated is key to this position.  Advance skills with MS Word, Excel and Outlook 2017 are required.  Experience with JD Edwards software would be an asset.  A candidate with office administration training is preferred.  Experience in a construction or transportation environment is an asset.

There is an immediate opening for Loader Operator, in the Aggregate Division’s Ponoka Pit Operations.  This is a Part-Time position reporting to the Sales Manager. This position’s hours will be dependent upon the requirements of the pit.  Some weeks may require work 5 days a week, while other weeks may have no hours.  Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • Experience in the operations of a front-end loader

Reporting directly to the Vice President, the PM is responsible to oversee the daily operations of the company’s portfolio of primarily industrial properties located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area as well as properties recently acquired in Colorado with properties in the greater Denver area.

The ideal candidate must be proactive, detail oriented, a problem solver and must take pride in high quality standards. He/She will possess 3 to 5 years’ experience in Property Management, Commercial Leasing, Construction, Tenant Regulations and Budgeting. Achieved a Civil Engineering degree or equivalent. Bestway Concrete & Aggregate (a BURNCO company) is seeking an individual to lead the Aggregate Division operations in the Greater Denver area. Reporting directly to the US Aggregate Operations Manager, this senior member of the aggregate team will be responsible for all aspects of pit permitting, stripping, and reclamation. In addition, the incumbent will take a leading role in the management and supervision of the operations in 5 current locations as well as new aggregate resources.  This role will be accountable for ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental programs, procedures and policies.

 

The ideal candidate will possess a post-secondary education with preference given to civil or mining engineering. In addition, considerable experience in the aggregate business will be considered a pre-requisite. This position will be based at our Milliken office and will require minimum travel outside of the greater Denver area.

BURNCO is currently looking for a Quality Assurance Administrator for our greater Denver area operations Bestway Concrete.  Based in Milliken the chosen individual will be responsible, but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Inputting, organizing & maintain all material reports (both internal & external)
  • Generate concrete and aggregate reports for analysis and submittal
  • Coordinate the administrative needs of the Quality Control Department with Operations and Sales

Financial Accountant, US Operations Corporate – Texas | Competition #BU17-0103

BURNCO is currently looking for a Financial Accountant to support our US based businesses.  This role will be based at our Irving, Texas location.  This is a full time position that reports directly to the Manager of Financial Accounting.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for the accounting of the US entities including month end close
  • Responsible for the filing of state and county sales tax returns
  • Review of accounting performed by other members of the accounting team
  • Compile financial accounting records in order to prepare internal monthly management reports and analyses, including KPIs
  • Works with the business to provide information to assist the Manager of Financial Accounting in the development and implementation of financial accounting systems and processes to ensure delivery of accurate information for financial statements, management reporting and other financial analysis to support management decisions.
  • Provide financial information to the Manager of Financial Accounting for preparation of external financial reporting on a quarterly basis
  • Manages changes in business unit and/or consolidated accounting and reporting processes resulting from various business initiatives such as acquisitions, divestitures, expansion of existing operations and divisional/corporate reorganizations.
  • Assists with developing, through consultation with functional team and end users, the process and reporting control environment necessary to ensure the integrity of the financial reporting emanating from the JDE financials system.
  • Identifies technological and functional opportunities to leverage the financial system capabilities in support of the company’s operating and financial reporting requirements.
  • Collaborates with payroll to meet the statutory requirements for reporting
  • Ad hoc financial analysis as required by management team
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Recognized professional designation (ie. CPA, CA ,CGA, or CMA), combined with a post-secondary education, with a preference for a business or finance degree; minimum of three(3) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting and reporting in a complex automated data processing environment, as well as preparation of financial reports and analyses for senior management; familiarity with JD Edwards is preferred;  innovative problem solving skills; superior personal computer skills; proven oral, written and listening communication skills; an understanding of the principles of internal controls

Tricycle Cycle Drafting Technician

Tricycle Lane Ranches Ltd. (TLR) is a sister company of BURNCO and is seeking a full time permanent Drafting Technician (DT) based in our Head Office located in Calgary, Alberta. Reporting to the Technical Services Supervisor the DT is responsible to overseeing the creation and maintenance of drawing files using AutoCAD Civil 3D and other software as required by TLR and BURNCO for primarily aggregate pits and plant sites located in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and the US.

The ideal candidate must be detail oriented and take pride in high quality standards. The candidate will possess 5 years of experience in Drafting and a Civil Engineering or Geomatics technical diploma or equivalent. We offer competitive salary and benefits.

Key Responsibilities

Drafting and Survey Supervision

  • Managing survey data acquisition in support of permit applications and reporting requirements as well as volumetric checks of stockpiles as required

 

Compliance and Reporting

  • Calculating volumes and doing take-off’s for reclamation security estimates
  • Ensuring disturbance areas on site are clearly defined and marked, detecting any discrepancies and notifying supervision if there are

 

Exploration Drilling

  • Creating exploration plans and drill hole layouts
  • Mapping drill hole log information and generating geological surfaces and cross-sections
  • Coordinating utility locates and crossing agreements

 

General

  • Keeps abreast of technological progress with respect to those areas under your direction, and apply those aspects of such progress where applicable

BURNCO is currently looking for Ready Mix Drivers to join our team.  We have positions available at all our locations:  Windsor, Henderson, Milliken, Firestone Denver, Golden/Jeffco and Littleton/Titan.

 

The ideal candidate will have a valid Commercial Drivers’ License, as well as a clean driving abstract and Ready Mix experience or 2 years with a Commercial Drivers’ License.  We are willing to train those who hold a CDL but do not meet the requested minimum experience criteria.  You are energetic, highly motivated and possess strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.

 

Successful candidate will be responsible for driving a ready mix truck in a safe and timely manner to deliver a perishable product.
